Ballgowns- British Glamour Since 1950
Is an exhibition (over two floors) in Victoria & Albert museum in London, feature more than sixty designs for social events such as private parties, royal balls, state occasions,opening nights, etc. The exhibition is cover over sixty years of a strong British design tradition that continues to flourish.
You will see a selection of royal ballgowns, including a Norman Hartnell gown designed for Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Princess Diana’s ‘Elvis Dress’ designed by Catherine Walker, etc. Also dresses worn by actresses and celebrities including Elizabeth Hurley, Bianca Jagger and Sandra Bullock. And from designers Hussein Chalayan, Mary Katrantzou, Vivienne Westwood, Giles Deacon, a dress from Alexander McQueen S/S11 and the stunning metallic leather dress created especially for the exhibition by innovative designer Gareth Pugh.
